Every Smile Starts with a Consultation
When you take the first step to begin working with CT Braces in Westport, you will learn more about every step of the orthodontics practice. Upon your consultation in Westport, you will undergo a complete exam to help determine a treatment plan. During this initial meeting, we will go over basic information such as:
- Dental and medical history
- A specific treatment plan based on an oral exam with x-rays
- An overall plan for treatment
- Financial information, insurance options, and payment plans
After Your Initial Orthodontic Consultation
After your consultation, we can schedule your first appointment to begin treatment with your Westport orthodontist. Together, we will complete all paperwork and then schedule a second x-ray appointment. A Westport orthodontic assistant will aid in the process, and will help you better understand orthodontic appliances as well as placing them. The second appointment lasts about 2 hours, during which your comfort will be our first and foremost concern.
Scheduling Orthodontic Appointments
In order to make sure your teeth have been making the correct progress according to the schedule and treatment plan, we suggest that you visit the Westport office every four to eight weeks. If your schedule is particularly busy with either work or other aspects of life, we will work with you to make this as easy and convenient as possible.
We know that life can be unpredictable at times, so if you need to reschedule an appointment you had made previously, just call the Westport office. We will work with you and your schedule and have our Westport schedule coordinator find a convenient appointment for you.

Westport Orthodontic Treatment Options
Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening
Crowding, widely spaced teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, or bad bites for younger patients are common issues we see that are sometimes a result of genetics or injury. Some of these issues can also be caused by common practices such as thumb-sucking habits or late or early tooth loss. Some children’s orthodontic issues may get better with time, however, adult orthodontic problems cannot self-correct and often require orthodontic surgery.
To prevent more complicated problems from occurring down the line in adulthood, your child can receive orthodontic treatment in our professional Westport office. This may prevent the need for orthodontic surgery later on in life. If your child is 7 years old and requires orthodontic treatments, don’t wait! Contact our Westport office today and schedule and initial exam to see what treatment is best for your child. CT Braces is always happy to help your child’s teeth and help them achieve an increased confidence with an improved smile!
Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment
In order to achieve a healthy smile, our Two-Phase treatment plan helps strategically make process on your smile.
- During the first phase, your Westport orthodontist will opt for treatments to remedy problems such as jaw growth, tooth crowding, or spacing problems. This is the first step for properly aligned permanent teeth.
- Next is the resting period, during which your child’s permanent teeth will naturally grow.
- In the next phase, our Westport orthodontists will assemble a full set of upper and lower braces that position and align permanent teeth.
If you would like to learn more about these practices or appliances, contact our Westport office for full details!
Westport Adult Orthodontics
Many orthodontic patients are adults. In fact, according to the American Association of Orthodontists, about 20% of patients are over 21 years old. At CT Braces in Westport, we can help you achieve a smile you will be proud of.
Adult orthodontic procedures are far different from pediatric orthodontics. Because adult jaws are harder, there is a higher risk of gum or bone loss, worn or missing teeth, or existing incomplete orthodontic treatment from childhood or teenage years.
CT Braces of Westport knows exactly how to handle your orthodontic procedures in a way to best help you. Our professional team will take care of your adult orthodontic needs. For more information on treatment, call our Westport office and we can set up an initial exam with our orthodontic team.
Westport Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)
Surgical orthodontics, referred to as orthognathic surgery, will help with treatment of:
· jaw bone formation
· bad bites
· malocclusion – misaligned teeth.
Surgical orthodontics is used as the first step in treatments with misaligned jaws. This will be followed up by braces to move teeth into position. Your Westport orthodontist with CT Braces will be able to work with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who will perform surgery at a hospital.
Orthodontic surgery takes several hours. We insist that you have a rest period of two to four weeks. Upon completion, you may need to be fitted for a device such as braces. The braces will typically be on for about six to twelve months. Surgical orthodontics is a major medical procedure that has been successful among patients for years. At CT Braces of Westport, our first concern is your comfort. Call us today to speak about different options and plans!
Westport, CT Invisalign® Options
Westport CT Braces is a certified Invisalign provider. Invisalign treatment uses clear, plastic aligners to help position your teeth into a healthy smile. With Invisalign trays, you can still eat your favorite foods, drink, brush, and floss throughout your treatment. You will just need to have a new set of aligners assigned every 2 weeks to slowly move your teeth into their corrected position.
The treatment will last about nine to fifteen months. We highly recommend that you visit a Westport orthodontist every 6 weeks to ensure that the treatment is going according to plan. If you would like to learn more about this treatment, feel free to contact the Westport CT Braces via phone call.
