Every Smile Starts with a Consultation
During your first orthodontic consultation in Shelton, you will become acquainted with our team. In doing so you will learn more information about our orthodontic practice, have a completed exam and figure out the best treatment for you and your needs. What we will do during your first meeting with us is:
- Review your dental and medical history
- Perform a complete oral exam, with X-Rays, to determine whether treatment is necessary
- Work with you to create a customized treatment plan
- Discuss financial information, insurance options, and payment plans
After Your Initial Orthodontic Consultation
What is able to happen after we finish your consultation is: choosing to schedule your first appointment with your orthodontist, complete your paperwork and schedule a second appointment for x-rays. You can be assured that it will be an overall comfortable process due to the overseeing of one of our Shelton orthodontic assistants accompanying you for the whole procedure. Their job is to keep you understanding what is occurring and how to properly place your orthodontic appliance. The second appointment will be around 2 hours, during which our Shelton Orthodontic team will keep you comfortable and safe for your whole appointment.
Scheduling Orthodontic Appointments
Every four to eight weeks is the recommended period of time that our Shelton orthodontic team of professions swears by in order to make sure that your new orthodontic piece is working right. Our team will make sure to work around your hectic life or work schedule in order to get you an appointment that works for you. We always want to make sure that you’re being looked after and cared for properly.
You can contact our Shelton office any time if you are unable to make it to your appointment. Our Shelton team understands and wants to accommodate you any way possible. - Underbite: lower front teeth in front of upper teeth
- Overjet: protruding front teeth
Shelton Orthodontic Treatment Options
Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening
Crowding, widely spaced teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, or bad bites for children (which are often inherited or a result of injury); are all common orthodontic issues. Along with thumb-sucking habits or early to late tooth loss can cause bad bites in children as well. Compared to adults, however, as orthodontic problems can continue through age, the only solution then is orthodontic surgery. It is still possible for children’s orthodontic issues to mend themselves, yet, with adults the jaw will harden by adulthood.
Yet with adulthood approaching, your child at our Shelton office can receive orthodontic treatment that can prevent this. This will decrease the possibility of any necessary orthodontic surgery later in life. Contact us, do not wait for a problem to “figure itself out” ever, no matter whether you child is 7 years old or younger - if it seems like they need orthodontic care then come on down. Our Shelton team is always here to help. All you have to do is schedule an initial exam if anything occurs. Our goal at CT Braces is to help your child have a better, more confident smile and we will do that by helping straighten their teeth.
With just three steps, our two-phase treatment can help your child have a beautiful, healthier smile.
- Phase one: your Shelton orthodontist will recommend treatment for any growth, tooth crowding or spacing issues. By doing this, your child’s permanent teeth will be able to be properly aligned.
- A resting period will take place after this. In this time, your child’s permanent teeth will, with no need for a retainer, be able to grow naturally into place.
- Phase two: our Shelton orthodontic professionals will assign your child a full set of upper and lower braces which will help the process of aligning their permanent teeth.
Feel free to contact our Shelton office today whether you have been referred to us or are even just interested in learning more about our orthodontic practices. We will be happy to supply you with any information.
Shelton Adult Orthodontics
The American Association of Orthodontists states that ‘one in five orthodontic patients are over 21 years of age.’ We strive to help our Shelton patients, here at CT Braces, to not only gain confidence in their smile but also be able to comfortably show off their stunning and straight teeth.
The main differences between children’s and adult’s jaws are that adult’s jaws are harder, leading to higher risk of gum or bone loss, worn or missing teeth, or have suffered incomplete orthodontic treatment as a child or teen.
Our Shelton team at CT Braces is able to differentiate the problems between our Shelton adults and children. And we will help you however we can no matter what. Set up an initial exam with our Shelton orthodontic practice to get more information and begin the process.
Shelton Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)
Surgical orthodontics, also known as orthognathic surgery, is used to treat severe issues in:
- jaw bone formation
- bad bites
- malocclusion – misaligned teeth.
When a jaw is not correctly aligned, the best option is surgical orthodontics. From this process, orthodontic braces are used to move the teeth into their new, correct positions. Our Shelton orthodontist will work alongside an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at CT Braces, the surgery, itself, taking place in a hospital.
From here it is recommended by our Shelton orthodontic professionals that you take a resting period for at least two to four weeks after the several hours of orthodontic surgery. It is very possible for the necessity of wearing braces that you get fitted for in this time to occur for six to twelve months. From here a retainer will be needed to be worn in order to help keep the placement of your teeth as they adjust. Surgical orthodontics (orthognathic surgery) has been a successfully done major medical procedure for years. Our Shelton orthodontic practice is here to discuss your options with you. Please feel free to contact us as our main concern is that you are comfortable with all of our orthodontic treatments.
Shelton, CT Invisalign® Options
Invisalign® is an option for our Shelton clients here at CT Braces. We are a certified provider of these invisible, removable aligners that allow you to reach a healthy, straight smile without the use of braces. You are still able to eat, drink, brush and floss during your treatment involving these comfortable trays. A new set of aligners will be needed every two weeks, as the desired position of your teeth will be achieved slowly yet surely.
It is important that you visit your Shelton orthodontist every six weeks to check that your treatment is going according to schedule. This treatment, overall, will average around nine to fifteen months. If you would like to learn more or discuss the benefits of Invisalign®, contact our Shelton office today.
