Every Smile Starts with a Consultation

During your first orthodontic consultation with our specialist near Salem Center you will meet your team and learn more about the overall practice of orthodontics. You will undergo a complete exam that will help us determine your treatment plan that best fits you. During this initial consultation we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history
  • Perform a complete oral exam, with X-Rays, to determine whether treatment is necessary
  • Work with you to create a customized treatment plan
  • Discuss financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

After Your Initial Orthodontic Consultation

You can schedule your first appointment with your orthodontist after your consultation, and fill out any paperwork needed. You can also schedule your second appointment for x-rays during this time. One of our Salem Center orthodontic assistants can help teach and place your orthodontic appliance. Your second appointment will likely last about 2 hours, during which our entire staff will treat you with care and comfort to keep you at ease.

Scheduling Orthodontic Appointments

We suggest that our Salem Center patients return back to our office every four to eight weeks to check in on your orthodontic device and make sure it is working smoothly. We understand everyone has busy schedules and we do our best to create a convenient appointment for you.

Salem Center Orthodontic Treatment Options

Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening

Common orthodontic issues can be crowding, widely spaced teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, or bad bites which are often inherited or a result of injury, or formed by thumb-sucking or early or late tooth loss. Adult orthodontic problems won’t get better with age and may need orthodontic surgery. Children’s orthodontic issues can correct themselves, though their jaws will harden by adulthood.

We always recommend bringing in children at a young age once they start to show signs of orthodontic issues. If your child is 7 years or older and you notice any problems give our Salem Center office a call to set up an initial appointment. We find our procedures more successful at an early age while the patient is still developing. Our entire staff is ready to work with you and your child to put them at ease and create a smile for them that they can be confident with.

Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment

To make sure that your child has a healthy, bright smile we’ll be able to assist you with our Two-Phase treatment that consists of only three steps.

  • Phase one begins with visit our salem orthodontist office to treat any jaw growth, tooth crowding or spacing issues that your child may be facing. This will help with encouraging proper alignment for their permanent teeth.
  • Next, there will be a rest period where your child’s permanent teeth will grow in without causing any problems with a retainer.
  • Phase Two consists of our orthodontist placing full upper and lower braces on the teeth to contest any alignment issues to help with permanent teeth in the future.

Salem Center Adult Orthodontics

According to the American Association of Orthodontics one in five orthodontic patients are over the age of 21. Here at CT Braces in Salem Center we are ready to work with you to create a smile that you can be proud of. Adult orthodontics differs than childhood orthodontics because there may be more risks associated with it. As adults, the jaw becomes harder and can lead to higher chances of gum or bone loss, worn or missing teeth, or incomplete orthodontic treatment as a child or teen.

Our orthodontists at CT Braces in Salem Center understand that different issues can occur with adult patients as opposed to adolescent patients, and we are here to help get you smiling again. Call us today at our Salem Center office for more information and to set up a consultation.

CT Braces of Salem Center knows that adults may have different needs, and we’re willing to work with these specific needs. To learn more about our treatment options, please reach out to our Salem Center office.

Salem Center Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)

If you require a surgical orthodontic procedure, also called orthognathic surgery, we can help treat:
                         jaw bone formation
                         bad bites
                         malocclusion – misaligned teeth.

The first step at aligning a jaw is through surgical orthodontics, after which we will provide you with orthodontic braces that help guide teeth into their correct location. Your Salem Center orthodontist here at CT Braces will work closely with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who will perform your surgery at a hospital.

Your surgery will likely last several hours and should be followed by two to four weeks of resting time. Afterwards, some patients need to be fitted for braces which are worn for six to twelve months, later receiving a retainer to ensure their teeth stay in the correct positions. Orthognathic surgery is a major medical procedure of which has been practiced for years, though we understand the nerves that can come along with it. We want you to enter your surgery with confidence, if you have any questions please contact one of our Salem Center staff members for help.
