Oxford Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)
Orthognathic Surgery is a form of Orthodontics that involves surgery. It is an appropriate treatment for:
· jaw bone formation
· bad bites
· malocclusion – misaligned teeth.
A surgical orthodontic procedure is used first when a jaw isn’t aligned. Afterward, orthodontic braces are installed on the teeth to adjust them into the proper alignment. At our CT Braces office in Oxford, we will work with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The surgery will be scheduled to happen in a hospital.
The procedure will take several hours. CT Braces in Oxford suggests that you take two to four weeks of rest, and then you will be fitted for braces. These braces will be worn for 6 months to a year. Then you will be asked to wear a retainer to solidify the placement of your teeth. Orthognathic surgery is a major medical procedure, but it has become routine throughout the years. Our goal at CT Braces in Oxford is to help you be confident and comfortable with our treatment. Please call our office to set up your first exam.
