Every Smile Starts with a Consultation

During your initial orthodontic consultation in Hamden, you’ll meet with our team, learn the basics of orthodontics, have a complete initial exam, and find out which treatment options work for you. At your consultation, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history
  • Perform a complete oral exam, with X-Rays, to determine whether treatment is necessary
  • Work with you to create a customized treatment plan
  • Discuss financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

After Your Initial Orthodontic Consultation

Once your consultation is completed, we’ll help you schedule your first appointment with an orthodontist and help you fill out your paperwork. We’ll also assist you in scheduling your second appointment where you’ll need to take photos and x-rays and one of our Hamden orthodontist assistants will apply your orthodontic appliance. This appointment will usually take around 2 hours and our Hamden team will help you feel comfortable during the process.

Scheduling Orthodontic Appointments

To make sure your treatment is on the right path, we insist that you visit your orthodontist every four to eight weeks. Our Hamden orthodontic practice will help schedule and make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible.

We know that “life happens” and you may not be able to make your appointment or need to schedule. Just call our Hamden orthodontic office and we’ll accommodate you as best we can! When you’re ready to set up your appointment, call us and our scheduling coordinator in Hamden will help you out.

Hamden Orthodontic Treatment Options

Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening

There are a variety of orthodontic issues your child may be facing that include crowding, spacing, jaw growth problems, or protruding teeth. Problems such as these or bad bites in children can inherited, caused by injury, early or late tooth loss, or thumb-sucking. Adult orthodontic procedures will usually take longer and may require orthodontic surgery compared to a child’s which will not harden until they become adults.

For children who are seeking orthodontic treatments, our Hamden office can help straighten their teeth and prevent major orthodontic treatments in the future. If your child is 7 years old and may require orthodontic care, please reach out to our Hamden orthodontic practice to have an initial exam. We want to help your child achieve a straight, healthy smile that they love to show off.

Two-Phase Treatment

To make sure your child receives a healthy, straight smile, we follow a Two-Phase treatment that includes a three-step process.

  • In Phase One, Our Hamden orthodontist will treat any jaw growth, tooth crowding or spacing issues your child is facing to help with additional proper alignment of permanent teeth.
  • The next step includes a resting period where your child’s permanent teeth have the ability to naturally grow without being compromised by a retainer.
  • In Phase Two, your Orthodontist will place upper and lower braces to help your child align other issues with permanent teeth.

Hamden Adult Orthodontics

According to the American Association of Orthodontists, one out of five patients will be over the age of 21. Here at CT Braces of Hamden, we love working with our patients to help them develop a beautiful, straight smile without disrupting their everyday lives.

Since adults have a harder jaw (compared to children) there will be a higher risk of gum or bone loss, worn or missing teeth, which could also be caused by the lack of orthodontic treatment as a child or teen.

CT Braces of Hamden is aware of the different needs of adults, and we are ready to take on any case. To learn more about our treatment plans, contact our Hamden office today.

Hamden Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)

Surgical orthodontics, also recognized as orthognathic surgery, can be used to discuss issues in:
·         jaw bone formation
·         bad bites
·         malocclusion – misaligned teeth.
If a jaw is not properly aligned, surgical orthodontics will be required first. Next, orthodontic braces will be situated to help move the teeth into the correct placement. Your Hamden orthodontist at CT Braces will be assisted by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who will complete your surgery at the hospital.
Your procedure will take a few hours and we recommend that you take a two to four week rest period afterward. You will also need to wear braces for six to twelve months after your surgery, and a retainer to maintain the new alignment. Surgical orthodontics (orthognathic surgery) is a major medical procedure that we want you to be confident and comfortable with. To discuss your personal case further, please reach out to our Hamden orthodontic office.

Hamden, CT Invisalign® Options

Hamden CT Braces is a certified Invisalign® provider. Invisalign® is an alternative process that helps you achieve a healthy, straight smile without the use of braces. These almost invisible, removable and comfortable trays are a great way to align your teeth and you can freely eat, drink, brush and floss while you are undergoing your treatment. Every two weeks you will need to have a new set of aligners put into place to help with the gradual growth of spacing for your teeth.
Your treatment will last for an average of nine to fifteen months, and you should visit your Hamden orthodontist every six weeks. If you want to learn more about Invisalign®, contact your Hamden CT Braces office for an initial consultation.
