  • Spacing of teeth

  • Underbite: lower front teeth in front of upper teeth
  • Overjet: protruding front teeth

Derby Orthodontic Treatment Options

Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening

Typical Orthodontic issues are crowding, spaced teeth, jaw growth issues, protruding teeth, and bad bites for children, which are either inherited or result of an injury. We also see these as a result of thumb-sucking, and early or late tooth loss. Any orthodontic issues that kids form can correct themselves, though their jaws are harden as they age. For adults we see issues that typically don’t get better with time, resulting in orthodontic surgery.

It is never too early to reach out for more information if you find your child developing any issues. As a preventative measure we suggest making an appointment around 7 years of age if you find your child in need of orthodontic treatment. It is always better to come in for a consultation earlier rather than trying to wait out the issue. Our Derby staff members are here to help so don’t hesitate to give us a call and schedule your first visit. Here at CT Braces in Derby we promise to help keep your child smiling from start to finish!

Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment

With our Two-Phase treatment, made up of three steps, your child will end up with a healthy smile.

  1. The first phase starts off with our Derby Orthodontists recommending treatment for your child's jaw growth, overcrowding or spacing issues. By doing so your child’s grown-up teeth will be aligned correctly.
  2. With the help of a retainer your child’s permanent teeth will naturally grow into position during a resting period.
  3. During Phase Two our orthodontists will present your child with full sets of upper and lower braces to help adjust their permanent teeth.

For those looking for further information please call our qualified team members at our Derby office and let us assist you.

Derby Adult Orthodontics

According to the American Association of Orthodontists one in five patients are over 21 years of age. Our Derby CT Braces office can assist you at any age of life and provide you with a straight and healthy smile.

We understand the difference between adult and children’s orthodontics treatment. In adults, jaws are harder which tend to lead to complications such as gum or bone loss and missing teeth.

Our Derby office of CT Braces understands that adults and children have a variety of different issues when it comes to orthodontic needs. We know it can be overwhelming and nerve-wracking, but we assure you our staff is here to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. Call us today to schedule a consultation and start your journey to a better, brighter smile!

Derby Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery)

Orthognathic surgery, otherwise known as surgical orthodontics, can assist you with:

  • jaw bone formation
  • bad bites
  • malocclusion – misaligned teeth.

The first attempt at aligning a jaw is through surgical orthodontics, after which we will provide you with orthodontic braces that assist teeth into their correct location. Your Derby orthodontist at CT Braces works closely with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, together they perform your surgery at hospital.

You can expect your orthodontic surgery to take several hours from start to finish. Following the completion we recommend a rest period of two to four weeks to allow your body to properly heal and recover. After the surgery we sometimes find patients in need of braces that are to be worn for six to twelve months followed by a retainer, which helps the proper placement of your teeth. Surgical orthodontics is considered a major medical procedure that has been perfected and performed for years. We understand the nerves and discomfort that may arise before surgery and are here help assist you in any way possible. Give one of our team members a call at our Derby practice to go over your orthodontic needs.
