Child & Teenage Orthodontics & Teeth Straightening
While sometimes caused by late tooth loss of thumbsucking, it is often injuries or genetics children that cause a number of common orthodontic issues such as: crowding, widely spaced teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, or bad bites. While it is possible that Children’s Orthodontic issues may correct on their own, it is not always the case, and it is a fact that jaws harden by adulthood. So keep in mind that, adult orthodontic problems won’t get better with age and may require orthodontic surgery.
It is better to take preventive measures for your child, by bringing them into our Branford office, so that they do not have to deal with more complicated orthodontic issues upon reaching adulthood. It’s not a good idea to wait to see if your child's orthodontic issues simply fix themselves, if your child is 7 years or older. We want to give your child a perfect, healthy smile, and we’ve perfected a Two-stage, three step program to make it possible.
- Phase one is about making sure your child's permanent teeth grow in properly aligned. This phase involves meeting with your Branford Orthodontist so they recommend a treatment for any jaw growth, tooth crowding or spacing issues.
- After this, your child’s permanent teeth can naturally grow into place without the use of a retainer, during a resting period.
- In Phase Two, our Orthodontic professionals will fit your child with a full set of upper and lower braces that will help with the alignment any permanent teeth.

Surgical orthodontics, also known as orthognathic surgery, is used to treat severe issues in:
- jaw bone formation
